Yoga & The Five Tibetans - by Barry Hogg

Finally did yoga DVD tonight after a 6 month break due to my expanding frame. Feel so much better already.

A few years ago Craig was asked by a patient to review Yoga & The Five Tibetans - by Barry Hogg for its safety with regards to a back injury.

Being a yoga video, Craig was not interested in the slightest. So I reviewed it.

It turned out that, not only was it good for strengthening backs, it was great for reducing fatigue. Craig was also happy to do it once he knew it was not 'spiritual' yoga, just exercises, with 5 fairly harmless affirmations thrown in.

Here are some reasons why we chose this DVD to do regularly to help with our CFS recovery (3 times a week up to daily when possible).

1) It is not too long or too short (DVD is 32 minutes but once you know the routine you can get it down to 15 minutes of exercises alone without watching the DVD)

2) It is a low/ mostly no impact routine

3) The exercises are taught with levels for beginning, improving and good flexibility/strength.

4) It is a lycra & make up free DVD. Becoming like the instructor is possible for most. (although when I checked the website it looks like Barry has updated the DVD & is no longer wearing his T-shirt tucked into his trackies!)

5) It contains the most achievable stomach work-out ever produced. (Great for those of us with absolutely no motivation in this department!)

We found it was guaranteed to (in no particular order);

1) make us taller (at first for a few hours then for weeks/months while we were disciplined). Great for posture correction.

2) speed up our intestines (which were sluggish due to CFS)

3) give us an energy boost

4) improve our outlook on the day

5) strengthen our lower backs

6) improve all over body flexibility & strength

7) shed fat & tone up the whole body

All in all we recommend it highly.
